In this section we find stamps depicting sequences of ones and zeros called bits (abbreviation for binary digits). Binary code is used by computers to represent all type of data. It's a coding system that uses only two values (0 and 1), or (on,off) like the state that assume a computer's circuit. For example the decimal number 5 is the binary number 0101.

Binary number system was first developed by the German mathematician Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz in the 17th century. In the second half of 19th century an English mathematician, George Boole, invented the Boolean Algebra that helped the implementation of binary system in electronic circuitry.
